About Charlie
Charlie Stuart graduated from the University of Florida in 1973 with a business degree that specialised in marketing & economics. While at UF Charlie played a little football for the Gators and met his wife, Barbara. Following college Charlie entered his family's office products business rising rapidly to become President of the 200 employee, $10 million business by his 27th birthday. The business lost its battle with the "big box depot" store chains and was closed in 1989. Charlie embarked on a career as a marketing consultant and never looked back.
As part of his service he found himself training staff and management in Essence Marketing®, Charlie's unique concept that eventually became his book - Essence Marketing: Don't Sell What You Deliver! From his training experience Charlie developed an engaging, humorous and impactful speaking formula that began to attract clients interested in having him keynote and lead workshops as a professional speaker. For one client - Inc. Magazine - Charlie traveled across the USA and Canada presenting half-day programs for small business owners sponsored by UPS, IBM, KeyBank and others. To date, Charlie has spoken professionally almost 1,000 times.
Some of the clients Charlie consulted with included big names in the professional services industry: Deloitte, PriceWaterhouse, Holland & Knight, IBM, SunTrust, Bank of America and many others.
Charlie's passion for public service led him to run, unsuccessfully, for the US Congress in 2006 and 2008. Following this experience, Charlie developed and founded Making Faith Matter, Inc., a ministry that provides a transformation model for denominational churches that engages the members in service-to-others by introducing a Service Ethos to accompany the Salvation Ethos. From this, Charlie is writing Church the Jesus Way to provide pastors, staff and laity a resource to build their transformation efforts around.
